In this workshop Monica will teach you a variety of decorative and practical items that are created using techniques that are commonly used throughout origami. By the end of the day you will fold a rimmed bowl, a traditional vase, flamingo straws, sunfish chop stick wraps, bulbs, a star dish candle holder, a tea bag frame, star coasters, tea bag napkin rings and possibly a party favor box, a wreath garland, and a bunny mobile. As you can tell this class will be action packed and you will learn basic and intricate folds that will be useful as you continue to explore the art of origami. This collection of takeaways is great to show off and to share with other origami beginners or enthusiasts. You will use a variety of papers that are ideal for the craft and have the chance to ask Monica questions about other structures you may be challenging yourself with.
Monica Salisbury lives in Ohio and founded Capital Area Paper Shapers, and started Ohio’s origami convention, CenterFold, which is held annually in Columbus, Ohio.
