American Fiber

National Juried Art Exhibition

of Works on Paper

Jurors: Rebecca Cross, Kent State University Faculty

Janice Driesbach, Chief Curator Akron Art Museum

The Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory and Educational Foundation is proud to present American Fiber, our fifth annual and first national juried exhibition. After many years of hosting regional juried exhibitions, and after many years of requests, we accepted submissions from all artists living in the United States for this year’s exhibition.

We received an astounding amount of submissions from many talented artists with a large quantity still coming from within a 100-mile radius of Cleveland. The show features works in sculpture, printmaking, photography and painting that are unified by their use of paper as an artistic medium. To say the judges had a difficult time selecting the works in the show is an understatement. This year, we received 205 artworks from 110 artists living in 18 states. Only 50 artworks from 46 artists were selected to be included in the exhibition.

The aim of exhibition is to showcase the versatility of paper as an artistic medium and to bring together striking and evocative work by leaders in this art form. We’d like to extend our gratitude to all of the artists who participated — this wouldn’t be possible without your submissions and boundless creativity!
