Registration deadline: December 31st, 2021 

Application Requirements:

  • 1 page project proposal outlining your project

  • A detailed timeline with studios needed

  • Current CV (no more than 3 pages)

  • An artist statement

  • 10-15 images of work created in the past 5 years (or link to website)

  • An image list detailing dimensions, media, materials, and year.

  • All information should be emailed to seneca@morganconservatory.org

Artist Residencies

The Morgan's residency period runs throughout the year and can be scheduled for anywhere between a few weeks to a few months, depending on the project and work being produced.

 

Selected artists are expected to follow studio rules and cleanup policies at all times during their residency. Artists are required to submit a brief project proposal outlining their timeline and studios needed.


The Morgan provides 24-hour access to its bindery, papermaking and printing studios.

Intern assistance is available during the summer.

Artists will receive a stipend of approximately $200/week funded by Windgate Foundation. Exact stipend amount may fluctuate depending on available funding

Artists will receive an orientation and storage space for materials and work in progress.

Selected artists are responsible for:

  • Housing for the duration of the residency

  • Transportation costs to/from the Morgan Conservatory

  • Keeping the studios organized and following clean up instructions

  • Vacating the studios during scheduled workshops and events

  • Not altering the studios or equipment in any way without permission from staff

  • Safe operation of equipment

  • Completing IRS form W-9

  • Paying all federal, state and local taxes on any stipend paid to Artist by the Morgan

  • Using ‘green’ alternatives to toxic or harmful chemicals

  • Returning letterpress type to the drawers

  • Keeping track of any Morgan Conservatory supplies (fiber, inks, chemicals) they used and paying for them at the end of the residency period

  • Paying $2.50/hour for the first two hours and $5/hour past the first two when using paper beaters

  • If necessary, paying for Morgan Conservatory Staff assistance at the rate of $20/hour

  • Donate a piece of work created during their time at the Morgan for our archives.

  • The opportunity to give an artist talk and/or participating in a group exhibition

  • Completing an evaluation questionnaire at the end of the residency period

  • Providing an acknowledgement of support when any of the work created during the residency is exhibited: “Studio support for this project was provided by the Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory and Educational Foundation.”
