Dyeing Paper with Medicinal Plants
Taught by Maggie Latham

*Virtual Workshop*

Pigmenting paper with natural plant dyes is a great addition to many art practices. This versatile medium can be used alongside another practice, or on its own to create unique pieces of art. In this workshop you will learn how to set up a non-toxic dye bath at home with traditional medicinal plants. Additionally, you will learn how to make and use soymilk mordant on your paper for the dyeing process. The final product will be an array of beautifully colored, naturally dyed paper that can be used for future projects.

*Students have two options for workshop length. The one-day workshop allows for exploration of 2-3 natural dyes, and the two-day option allows for exploration of up to 5 different natural dyes.
