The Morgan’s Sam Caraboolad Garden is the largest kozo (paper mulberry tree) grove in the United States. Kozo is used extensively in Asian papermaking. By growing the raw material onsite, we not only avoid the sizeable expense of importing the fibers from Asia, but also create a self-sustaining cycle of papermaking.

The annual kozo harvest is a community-wide event that serves as a hands-on introduction to the foundation of papermaking and the Morgan itself.

Our next Kozo Harvest will be November 2023
