Traditional & Contemporary Paper Marbling

Taught by Jenniffer Omaitz

Similar to the patterns found in smooth marble and other stones, the ancient art of marbling uses paints suspended on the surface of thickened water to create multi-colored patterns and unique designs. You will spend two days exploring traditional and non-traditional patterning and design through marbling on a variety of paper. By the end of the workshop, you will leave with an understanding of marbling, as well as a stack of hand marbled paper to display or use for future projects.

Jenniffer Omaitz (1979, Cleveland, OH) lives in Kent, OH. She holds an M.F.A. in painting from Kent State University and a B.F.A. in painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art; showing her professional artwork under the name Jenniffer Omaitz. JC Marbling & Book Arts was founded to pursue the practice of marbling, book arts, and as a teaching outreach for the craft of marbling. She has had several one person shows in Florida and Ohio with her marbled prints. Omaitz currently sells her handmade books, cards, and crafts at the Morgan Paper Conservatory, BayArts in Bay Village, Ohio; and Troppus Projects in Kent, Ohio and other seasonal retailers.
