Shari Wilkins

Shari Wilkins is a visual artist who focuses on photography to represent relationships among individuals and things. Her work results from the combination of rigorous research and the search for a narrative which examines the constructs of multiple truths and fiction.

Her work invokes the form of the archive using typology to classify relationships according to patterns and psychological factors.

The work focuses on our temporary existence by examining the people, places and things, interior and exterior, through the usage of antiquated photographic processes. The work visually explores the balance of opposites: form and power, variety and identity, reason and fate, life and death in an attempt to capture the tension of a world riddled with paradox. Incorporating her fascination with scale, vernacular photography, the photo booth, along with family documents, x-rays and ephemera, her work conveys a narrative about impermanence.
