Participants in this class will carve unique patterns on linoleum plates in any size for use as stamps to make their own pattern prints for postcards, wallpaper, wrapping paper, and more. Learn how prints are used for generating repetitive patterns in the commercial art field (product design, branding, and fashion) and how to use these techniques for your own purpose as an artist. No printing press required! All you need is a linoleum plate, your favorite object, and most importantly, passion in carving. Each student will make 2 pattern prints and, with documentation of these final pattern prints, a foldable zine so we can share each other's work through one-page zine.
Suggested Reading (optional): “An industrious art innovation in pattern and print at The Fabric Workshop” book.
