Altered book

Gene Epstein is an artist, book artist, bookbinder, exhibit designer, muralist and jazz bassist. She is the artist and fabricator of the gigantic bookshelf mural on the side of Loganberry Books in Shaker Heights. She has an MFA in Painting and a BA in Studio Art. Ms. Epstein currently teaches in the Art Department of Lorain County Community College. She is a former museum exhibits department director and former museum educator.
Gene Epstein’s folded book sculptures were featured in the 2011 book Book Art, Iconic Sculptures and Installations made from Books, published in Great Britain. One of her paintings was featured in Art and the Law (St. Paul, MN).
Her art has been shown in the Tweed Museum of Art (Duluth, MN), Loganberry Books Annex Gallery, the Heights Arts Gallery, the Morgan Conservatory, the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Library, the San Diego Book Arts National Juried Exhibition, and the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.
Ms. Epstein’s art is in the permanent collections of the Cleveland Institute of Art Library and Kent State University.
