This multicolor serigraph by Dutch painter, Karel Appel, is an excellent example of the artist's affinity for vibrant colors and turbulent abstract scenes. Woman with Bird depicts a loosely-rendered figure holding a bird with blocks of bold color. Appel was a member of CoBrA, a group of artists influenced by mythology and the spontaneity of art creation, exemplified by this work.
