Ellen Sheffield

Broadside; letterpress on handmade flax paper with fiber inclusions

Ellen Sheffield is a visual artist who explores the relationship between language, amteriality and time through works on paper and small-scale hand-held objects: artist's books. She is interested in how images and text create alternative readings.

Recent exhibitions have included those at the Center for Book Arts, NY, NY, CODEX V International Book Fair, Richmond, CA, and Abecedarian Gallery, Denver, CO. She collaborates with musicians, poets and writers in her studio, Unit IV Arts in Gambier, OH where she teaches in the Art Department at Kenyon College.
