Beginner Linocut Block-Printing Workshop
Participants will receive a brief historical overview of printmaking and then learn how to design specifically for block printing during this workshop taught by tahm lytle.

About
Participants will create their prints up to 8” x 10”, take home up to 5 copies on 88lb block printing paper, and several proofs on newsprint. After creating designs on tracing paper, we will go over how to transfer an image, various carving and inking techniques, registration basics, hand-printing on various surfaces, and troubleshooting common printing problems. No experience required!
Student Supply List: Optional - Any special paper/fabric/craft board for printing, printed font alphabet for text-based work, laptop/iPad for quick research.
Instructor Bio: tahm lytle is a queer, Black, and Latine printmaker, musician, and activist based in Cleveland Heights. They are a studio artist and shop intern at Zygote Press, where they have received most of their printmaking training. Their art prioritizes accessibility–they use upcycled and secondhand materials when possible, and make works that are representative and easy to understand. When teaching, they seek to make students feel seen and heard as they explore personal muses to create compelling works.
