TIME: 11:00am - 2:00 pm EST

Some books beg to be transformed. This virtual workshop will introduce you to the art of book sculpture, a process that allows you to reimagine a book into a 3-dimentional piece of art. You will learn best practices on how to select and prepare a book, cutting techniques, and how to construct and attach a 3-dimentional item to “burst forth” from your book. Tips on framing and presentation will also be discussed.
Instructor Bio:
A paper artist, writer, and book sculptor, Boo Paterson is most commonly known for her strong conceptual and political artwork. Her papercut fine art has been exhibited at the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy, her hard-hitting editorial pieces shortlisted in the World Illustration Awards twice, and she’s a regular cultural commentator on the BBC. The broadcaster has even produced a film about her art and a radio programme on her unconventional life and work. A teacher at Manhattan’s Center for Book Arts, she divides her time between New York and the UK. Her book, Papercut This Book, went global in 2016, and another papercraft title - First Art Kit - is to be released by Simon & Schuster in May 2021. www.boopaterson.com
