Transforming Narratives
of Identity
Friday July 25 - September 25, 2025

There are many intrinsic aspects of one’s identity such as race, gender and sexual orientation. In today’s world, those identities are challenged physically, mentally, and politically. Despite opposition, these artists in paper, book and print intertwine their identities with their work to unapologetically establish who they are.

About the NEA Variable Paper Editions

In 2024, the Morgan Conservatory received a Grant for Arts Projects from the National Endowment of the Arts to support a residency program for established artists to work collaboratively in the Morgan's papermaking studio with professional collaborator and Executive Director, Nicole Donnelly. Over the last year, Miguel Aragón, Diedrick Brackens, and Zoë Charlton have worked in the studio to create outstanding and ambitious limited editions in handmade paper.

“I [was] particularly excited to bring these three outstanding artists to work with The Morgan Conservatory here in Cleveland,” commented Executive Director Nicole Donnelly. “Each of these artists exemplifies extraordinary vision and a willingness to push their materials and craft in pursuit of this goal. As each artist expands the medium of paper, we are anticipating unique and ambitious works to emerge and to build stronger connections among Cleveland’s various arts communities and the visiting artists.”
